CAN YOU ACTUALLY TRUST YOUR AI? MASSIVE RED FLAG - MUST READ!

Massive Red Flag

I spent my afternoon updating my LinkedIn archives to make sure every article I have written was physically backed up. I decided to let Gemini do the heavy lifting: compare a 104-page PDF of my work against my master tracking list in Google Sheets and tell me what was missing.

The goal was simple. The reality was a mess!

After twenty minutes of the AI shifting goalposts and giving me different results every time I asked, I gave up and did it myself. To see where the logic fell apart, I forced the AI to audit its own performance. The level of "confident incompetence" was honestly staggering.

The Audit of an Audit

Here is what the review showed:

Total verification requests: 8

Total times it claimed to be "sure" or "positive": 8

Total times the AI was objectively wrong: 7 (the 8th was a "maybe")

When I challenged the counts, the AI just got more aggressive with its language. It started using words like "exhaustive" and "definitive" to defend math that was totally broken. It was a failure of logic wrapped in an authoritative tone.

The Reality for Leaders

The AI eventually admitted it. It told me, "Every time you challenged me, you were correct".

This is a massive red flag for anyone in a leadership role. We often mistake fluency for accuracy.

Just because an AI sounds like an expert doesn't mean the data is real. In my consultancy, I preach operational excellence and evidence-based review.

This was a brutal reminder that while AI is great for brainstorming, it is not a replacement for the grit and eyes of a human professional when you need precision.

The Takeaway

Use AI to expand your thinking. Use it to cut through the noise. But never let it be the final word on your data. Trust is fine, but if you don't verify it yourself, you are just managing a melting ice cube.
